What is Ribena Doing?
We at Ribena are committed to trying to make a difference to protect and safeguard our environment. Now we have developed the industry's first 100% recycled plastic bottle we don't want to just stop there. What else have we been doing?
It's not just the bottle we look at when it comes to recycling. We also consider the label (or shrink sleeve) and the cap. We now have shrink sleeves on all ready-to-drink Ribena bottles, which allows the sleeves to separate easily from the bottle during recycling. Our bottle caps are also recyclable, but the industry has a little way to go before they can be made from purely recycled materials. The Ribena & Tetra Pak partnership
We at Ribena are committed to making all our packaging as green as possible. That's why we've joined forces with Tetra Pak who provide us with environmentally friendly packaging. Currently our cartons supplied by Tetra Pak are sourced from FSC forests, are recyclable and, when recycled are used to create a whole range of other paper products. There are more and more places where you can recycle them now - see www.tetrapak.com/uk for details.Reverse Vending - Recycling-on-the-go pilot scheme
To help introduce more convenient recycling facilities, our parent company is working with recycling charity RECOUP on an innovative trial that brings recycling facilities onto the High Street. During the trial, which will run until the end of 2007, four "reverse vending" machines are being installed in high-footfall locations across England to raise consumer awareness, reduce litter and improve the supply of recycled material for reuse.“This recycling trial is in its infancy, but it follows a shrewd and imaginative concept and we have no doubt that it will be great success. Consumers are more concerned about the environment than ever before, and the scheme will provide them with a convenient and environmentally friendly way to dispose of their used soft drinks bottles.”
